Kids walking up the steps of my high school. Don't ask why I made them blue; I'm not totally sure myself.
acrylic on canvas, 11" by 14"
I'm getting fed up with the texture of the canvas showing through underneath the paint; I might try painting on wood panels or something. Any tips on this?
I like this a lot, it is very creative. It seems as if everyone is moving towards the light, and making them all the same colour makes the people seem like a uniform mob rather than individuals. Which is kind of how I remember high school.
Regarding the texture of canvas, have you tried painting on Masonite boards? Most art stores sell squares of this specifically for painting. I've not tried them though so I'm not sure how well acrylic will stick.
you painted them blue because somewhere in the back of your head you knew bright blue with the orange surroundings would pop beautifully
for a non-textured surface to paint on, masonite board is great - ultra smooth on at least one side - not only can you get it at many art supply stores, but i just came back from home depot and they had a 20x10 piece of it in the trash at the wood cutting station... bought it off them for 52 cents
